Let's face it.
Dean and Sam failed to fight off the apocalypse.
Human's are now being exterminated and are being used as portable meat bags for the Demons and Angels. We're now stuck in the middle of one of the greatest battles this earth has ever seen.
As the final swords are being stricken, a proposition has been offered. The boys are given one last chance to end it all, they have to make sure it never happens.
Time travel is never an easy thing and the boys are about to find that out. They're getting sent back to the beginning. Only problem is, they won't remember a thing at all about the future.
With merely altered gut instincts can the boys avoid everything that's gone wrong and set off the apocalypse? This is their chance at redemption. They have to make sure humanity will never see the rainstorm of fiery brimstone.
So the only way to make sure the end never comes is to start it all from the beginning.
